W ten sposób określano Henryka Wieniawskiego, patrona Międzynarodowego Konkursu Skrzypcowego w Poznaniu oraz Towarzystwa, które odpowiada za organizację wydarzenia.
Henryk Wieniawski urodził się w 1835 roku w Lublinie, a zmarł w 1880 roku w Moskwie. W wieku zaledwie ośmiu lat zaczął studia w Konserwatorium Paryskim, które ukończył w 1846 roku z I nagrodą i złotym medalem.

Henryk Wieniawski w Poznaniu nie mieszkał, ale często w nim koncertował, a także poświęcił temu miastu utwór „Souvenir de Posen”.
„Prywatnie pewny siebie, porywczy, ambitny, dla rywali niebezpieczny – człowiek z ogniem w sercu, co było słychać w jego grze (…). Był zdolnym kompozytorem, miał dar pisania pięknych, pozostających w pamięci melodii. To słychać w koncertach skrzypcowych, tematach zadzierzystych polonezów, słynnej Legendzie opartej na rzewnej nucie kujawiaka” – pisała o charakterze i kompozycjach Wieniawskiego Anna S. Dębowska w Gazecie Wyborczej.
Jego spuścizna nadal porywa melomanów i inspiruje muzyków, w tym skrzypków związanych z Konkursem. „(…) miał niezwykły sposób kształtowania dźwięku, zwłaszcza instrumentów smyczkowych” – mówiła o Wieniawskim Alena Bajewa, zwyciężczyni Konkursu w 2001 roku, w rozmowie z Jackiem Barczyńskim dla Ruchu Muzycznego.

This is how Henryk Wieniawski, the patron of the International Violin Competition in Poznań, and the Society responsible for the organization of the event, was named.
Henryk Wieniawski was born in Lublin in 1835 and died in Moscow in 1880. He was only eight years old when he began studies in Paris Conservatory, which he graduated in 1846 with first prize and a gold medal.
‘Here appeared before our eyes an eleven-year-old virtuoso with violin in hand. We were told that he was very anxious about his performance and full of apprehension as to whether he would prove himself worthy of this prize he received a few months ago. Anxiety deserving of praise, as it shows that this child is now almost a grown man’ - Paul Smith wrote those words in the pages of ‘La Revue et gazette musicale de Paris’ in 1846 - quoted by Magdalena Romańska in ‘Gazeta Konkursu Wieniawskiego’ - the competition daily newspaper.
Henryk Wieniawski didn’t live in Poznań, but he often gave concerts here and also dedicated his piece ‘Souvenir de Posen’ to the city.
‘Privately, he is confident, quick-tempered, ambitious, and dangerous to his rivals - a man with fire in his heart, which could be heard in his game (...). He was a gifted composer, he had the gift of writing beautiful melodies that would remain in memory. It can be heard in violin concertos, themes of perky polonaises, and the famous Legend based on the sordid note of kujawiak.’ wrote Anna S. Dębowska about the character and compositions of Wieniawski in ‘Gazeta Wyborcza’.
His legacy continues to captivate music lovers and inspire musicians, including violinists associated with the Competition. ‘(...) he had an unusual way of shaping the sound, especially of strings instruments’ said Alena Baeva, winner of the 2001 Competition, in an interview with Jacek Barczyński for 'Ruch Muzyczny'.

This is how Henryk Wieniawski, the patron of the International Violin Competition in Poznań, and the Society responsible for the organization of the event, was named.
Henryk Wieniawski was born in Lublin in 1835 and died in Moscow in 1880. He was only eight years old when he began studies in Paris Conservatory, which he graduated in 1846 with first prize and a gold medal.
‘Here appeared before our eyes an eleven-year-old virtuoso with violin in hand. We were told that he was very anxious about his performance and full of apprehension as to whether he would prove himself worthy of this prize he received a few months ago. Anxiety deserving of praise, as it shows that this child is now almost a grown man’ - Paul Smith wrote those words in the pages of ‘La Revue et gazette musicale de Paris’ in 1846 - quoted by Magdalena Romańska in ‘Gazeta Konkursu Wieniawskiego’ - the competition daily newspaper.
Henryk Wieniawski didn’t live in Poznań, but he often gave concerts here and also dedicated his piece ‘Souvenir de Posen’ to the city.
‘Privately, he is confident, quick-tempered, ambitious, and dangerous to his rivals - a man with fire in his heart, which could be heard in his game (...). He was a gifted composer, he had the gift of writing beautiful melodies that would remain in memory. It can be heard in violin concertos, themes of perky polonaises, and the famous Legend based on the sordid note of kujawiak.’ wrote Anna S. Dębowska about the character and compositions of Wieniawski in ‘Gazeta Wyborcza’.
His legacy continues to captivate music lovers and inspire musicians, including violinists associated with the Competition. ‘(...) he had an unusual way of shaping the sound, especially of strings instruments’ said Alena Baeva, winner of the 2001 Competition, in an interview with Jacek Barczyński for 'Ruch Muzyczny'.
