PIĘĆ MUZYCZNYCH SPRAWDZIANÓW
Za nami przedostatni dzień przesłuchań pierwszego etapu. W tej części konkursu każdy z uczestników wykonuje pięć lub więcej kompozycji. Pierwszymi z nich są wybrane Kaprysy Henryka Wieniawskiego oraz Niccolò Paganiniego. Następnie uczestnicy wykonują jedną z trzech propozycji Sonat i Partit Johanna Sebastiana Bacha. „Są to: zadumane Grave i Fuga a-moll, filozoficzna Chaconne d-moll, kreślone szeroką linią Adagio i najdłuższa ze skrzypcowych fug (C-dur)” – wyjaśnia Łucja Siedlik na łamach Gazety Konkursu Wieniawskiego. „Sonaty i Partity (…) skrzypcom pozwalają osiągnąć pełnię brzmienia, jaką niewielu kompozytorów uzyskało w kolejnych stuleciach. Przekształcają instrument melodyczny w wielogłosową machinę, a wprawiającym ją w ruch dają możliwość układania linii w niezliczone konfiguracje, układy napięć, znaczeń i odcieni, co wspaniale słychać na nagraniach” – pisze Siedlik w dalszej części artykułu.
Jeden utwór jest identyczny w programie każdego uczestnika. To czwarta część Sonaty nr 10 G-dur, op. 96, której problematyczność opisywał Jakub Puchalski w specjalnym serwisie Konkursu na stronie Tygodnika Powszechnego: „To kameralistyka, dialog z fortepianem, spotkanie, w którym skrzypek nie ma olśniewać, lecz uczestniczyć w interpretacji. Musi wnieść do niej balans i harmonię, pozwalające cieszyć się prostotą tematu, także kontrasty dynamiczne i precyzyjną artykulację, którymi żyją drobne niekiedy frazy, często też musi stanąć z boku, grając myśli poboczne. Nad wszystkim unosi się wreszcie konieczność zbudowania formy, która powinna zostać dopełniona i zamknięta, w przeciwnym bowiem razie finał sonaty zamienia się w ciąg może i atrakcyjnych, ale niespójnych pomysłów”. Ostatnie z wykonywanych utworów to już wybrane kompozycja patrona Konkursu, Henryka Wieniawskiego.

FIVE MUSICAL TESTS
The penultimate day of the first stage auditions is behind us. In this part of the competition, each participant performs at least five compositions. At the beginning - selected Caprices - one composed by Henryk Wieniawski and one by Niccolò Paganini. Then the participants perform one of the three propositions of Johann Sebastian Bach's Sonatas and Partitas. ‘These are the contemplative Grave and Fugue in A Minor, the philosophical Chaconne in D Minor, the long-breathed Adagio, and the longest of the violin fugues (in C Major)’ - explains Łucja Siedlik in ‘Gazeta Konkursu Wieniawskiego’. ‘Sonatas and Partitas (...) allow the violin to soar with a fullness of sound that few composers managed to achieve in the following centuries. They turn a melody instrument into a polyphonic device, and allow those setting it in motion to arrange the lines into infinitely variable configurations, alignments of tensions, meanings, and shades that can be heard well in recordings’ – Siedlik writes later in the article.
One piece is identical in every participant’s program. It is the fourth part of Sonata no. 10 in G Major, Op. 96, which problemacy has been described by Jakub Puchalski in the special portal of ‘Tygodnik Powszechny’ about the Competition: 'It is chamber music, dialogue with piano, a meeting in which the violinist is not the one to dazzle, but to participate in the interpretation. They have to bring balance and harmony to it, allowing one to enjoy the simplicity of the theme, as well as dynamic contrasts and precise articulation, which sometimes live in small phrases; and often has to stand aside, playing side thoughts. Finally, over everything is the need to build a form that should be completed and closed, otherwise the sonata's finale turns into a sequence of perhaps attractive but inconsistent ideas’. The last of the performed pieces are selected compositions of the patron of the Competition, Henryk Wieniawski.

It is the fourth part of Sonata no. 10 in G Major, Op. 96, which problemacy has been described by Jakub Puchalski in the special portal of ‘Tygodnik Powszechny’ about the Competition: 'It is chamber music, dialogue with piano, a meeting in which the violinist is not the one to dazzle, but to participate in the interpretation. They have to bring balance and harmony to it, allowing one to enjoy the simplicity of the theme, as well as dynamic contrasts and precise articulation, which sometimes live in small phrases; and often has to stand aside, playing side thoughts. Finally, over everything is the need to build a form that should be completed and closed, otherwise the sonata's finale turns into a sequence of perhaps attractive but inconsistent ideas’. The last of the performed pieces are selected compositions of the patron of the Competition, Henryk Wieniawski.

22-year-old Pole. In 2022, he made his debut as a soloist with the Polish Baltic Philharmonic in Gdańsk, Świętokrzyska Philharmonic in Kielce, Zielona Góra Philharmonic, Koszalin Philharmonic and in Warsaw Philharmonic. He currently studies at Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw.

29-year-old United States representative. He is director of ‘Listen Hear’, a new salon concert series in Sarasota, Florida. Currently a doctoral fellow at Juilliard researching the five versions of Ernest Chausson’s ‘Poème’–including an arrangement for violin, piano, and organ by Eugène Ysaÿe.
